CITY OF SPRINGFIELD Heavy Equipment Technician in SPRINGFIELD, Missouri

The City of Springfield's Department of Environmental Services' Solid Waste Management Division is seeking qualified applicants for Heavy Equipment Technician at the Springfield Sanitary Landfill. The Springfield Sanitary Landfill provides efficient, reliable, and environmentally secure disposal of municipal solid wastes and other non-hazardous materials. The Landfill is a vital part of the Solid WasteManagement Plan in Springfield.

In this role, you will be responsible forperforming skilled work in the overhaul, repair, and maintenance of specialized complex heavy machinery, including heavy duty trucks, automotive and diesel equipment.

The current work shift for this vacancyis 5:30 am - 3:30 pm.

Qualifications and Requirements

Experience, Education, and Training

  • A minimum of four years of responsible motorized equipment repair experience of which two years has been in the repair of specialized and complex heavy machinery, automotive and diesel equipment.

Licensing/Certification

  • Must possess a valid motor vehicle operator's license;
  • Must obtain and maintain a Class "B" Commercial Driver's License (CDL), within the following guidelines:
    • Pass written portion of exam within 90 days of employment and skills test portion within the probationary period.
  • Depending on assignment ASE certification required within probationary period
