The Opportunity

The Executive Director, Life Company Product Marketing will lead Life, Health and Annuity product marketers to acquire new business, shape and implement product-specific marketing strategies, focus on performance metrics, and deliver measurable results. Accountable for accelerating growth through continuous test-and learn agenda, improvement of paid and owned channel marketing efforts, and expert allocation of marketing investments. The team will ideate, plan, launch, measure, and optimize marketing campaigns to drive sustainable growth of multiple products at efficient acquisition costs. The executive will be the primary face of Life Company marketing, cultivating cross-functional relationships that improve processes and enhance alignment across the enterprise.

This executive role is accountable for maximizing outcomes with the allocated marketing budget and will collaborate closely with internal stakeholders such as Life, Heath, and Annuity Product Leadership, Brand, Digital, Creative, Media, and Analytics to drive profitable growth by deepening relationships with existing USAA members and driving acquisition of new members. This role will develop team members, recruit top talent, and motivate the marketing team through influence and leadership.

What you’ll do:

  • Accountable for the marketing lifecycle to drive Life Company growth, inclusive of strategy, member research, planning, direct response marketing, agency management, creative development, compliant execution, analytics and optimization, and performance management.

  • Develop and implement marketing plans and campaigns to build and deepen USAA’s relationship with existing members, and drive acquisition of new members via Life Company products and services.

  • Manage marketing budget allocations across multiple products and channels to deliver sustainable and efficient growth.

  • Support digital acquisition experience across all Life Company products.

  • Bring significant knowledge in Life Insurance and Financial product laws, rules, and regulations.

  • Effectively partners with key stakeholders in and outside of marketing (in particular, business counterparts) to best shape product marketing strategy across Life Company products.

  • Provide thought leadership within and keen awareness of the external business environment and digital marketing space, with established network of external partners to inspire out-of-box thinking.

  • Keep USAA brand and our mission to serve the military community at the forefront of new marketing practices.

  • Attract, develop, expand, and retain high performing teams of marketing professionals that deliver outcomes and key results. Cultivate talent through coaching and training.

  • Lead adoption of new ways of working leveraging storytelling to drive understanding and adoption of change.

  • Ensure risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled.

  • Follow written risk and compliance policies, standards, and procedures for business activities.

What you have:

  • Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Business Administration or 4 additional years of related experience beyond the minimum required may be substituted in lieu of a degree.

  • 10+ years of relevant work experience in financial services with hands-on marketing experience in conversion channels (i.e.: Paid Search, Affiliates, Direct Mail).

  • 4 years of people leadership experience in building, managing and/or developing high-performing teams.

  • Experience collaborating with key resources and stakeholders, influencing decisions, and managing work to achieve strategic goals.

  • Executive-level business acumen in the areas of business operations, industry practices and emerging trends.

  • Demonstrated ability to create and articulate a vision for product marketing organization.

  • Ability to seek and analyze data from variety of resources to support marketing decisions and alignment with key stakeholders.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in Product Marketing, including setting growth objectives, developing marketing plans, performance reporting, and driving incremental growth consumer definition, situation assessment, financial analysis, and marketing strategy.

  • Demonstrated proficiency marketing data analytics.

  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) with the ability to adjust communication style based on the audiences.

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to analyze and evaluate information.

  • Ability to exercise appropriate judgment by using information and knowledge to make timely, effective decisions.

  • Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.

  • Ability to adjust scope or resources as appropriate, mitigating potential risk to projects.

What sets you apart:

  • Demonstrated proficiency in direct-to-consumer Product Marketing, including setting growth objectives, developing marketing plans, performance reporting, planning and forecasting, and driving incremental growth consumer definition, situation assessment, financial analysis, and marketing strategy; proficiency in marketing data and analytics

  • Proficiency in Life Insurance products and business models – including product features and pricing model, market dynamics, competitive intelligence

  • Familiarity with working in and/or leading cross-functional agile teams, serving as team lead/product owner, determining priorities and overall strategy for team

  • Executive-level business acumen in the areas of business operations, industry practices and emerging trends with emphasis on Life Insurance

  • Ability to seek and analyze data from variety of resources to support marketing decisions and alignment with key stakeholders; strong analytical skills with the ability to analyze and evaluate information.

  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) with the ability to adjust communication style and to distill and express complex insights in a clear, succinct and executive-friendly narrative

  • Ability to adjust scope or resources as appropriate, mitigating potential risk to projects.

  • MBA preferred

Compensation:

USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market position. The salary range for this position is: $163,880.00-294,980.00.

Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance or at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.

Long Term Incentive Plan: Cash payment for Executive level roles only, representing a cash payment which is both time and performance based.
