The Utah Schools for the Deaf and the Blind (USDB) invites you to consider an enjoyable and gratifying employment opportunity with our agency.  We are looking for a caring and motivated Preschool Paraprofessional for the Blind/Low Vision to work with our blind/low vision students under the supervision of an Instructor for the Blind/Low Vision at USDB.  This position is located in Salt Lake City. Principal Duties: As a Paraprofessional you will:

• Prepare teaching materials and tutor individual students under the supervision of the instructor
• Communicate the progress of the students to the instructor
• Perform such duties as may relate to the motivation and achievement of students in academic and skills areas
• Assist with behavior interventions under the direction of the instructor 
• Assist with routine daily activities,i.e. bus duty,recess,lunch,bathroom (may include diapering),etc.
• Provide support in a classroom environment by working directly with teachers and students.
• Maintain accurate records and logs.
• Design and/or prepare training/instructional materials,teaching aides,and devices.
• This is a part-time position for nine (9) months (181) days each school year.  Work schedule Monday through Friday,thirty (30) hours per week.

• Practical knowledge of basic classroom techniques and organization.
• Techniques for assisting and providing effective support to classroom teachers.
• Ability to follow written and/or verbal instructions.
• Enter,transcribe,record,store,or maintain information in either written or electronic form.

• Positive in their dealings with teachers and other staff.
• Good listeners who follow directions well.
• Respected and trusted by students and parents.
• Willing to be flexible in work tasks and assignments.
• Successful completion of a criminal background check contingent upon employment.
