Job Description

The Physician Assistant will work under the supervising Physician and provide pre- and post-operative patient care at our state-of-the-art general surgery center in the surgical operating room and on the patient care floor.

  • Obtains detailed history and performs physical examinations on surgical and assigned patients.

  • Assists in preoperative and postoperative care; writes appropriate orders, including those for narcotics, stimulants, and depressant drugs, and pre and post-operative orders as necessary.

  • Complies with all Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital - Plymouth wide policies and Department of Surgery Policies where applicable.

  • Meets mandatory CME requirements and maintains certification.

  • Abides by and upholds Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital – Plymouth Standards.

  • Maintains a professional image in representing Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital – Plymouth standards.

  • Communicates courteously and professionally with all patients, physicians, hospital employees and other departments at all times.

Additional Job Description

Education/Experience Required:

  • Physician Assistant in the state of MA

  • Graduated NCN or PA accredited Master’s Degree program

Registration/Certification:

  • Registered Nurse or Physician Assistant in the state of MA

  • Graduated NCN or PA accredited Master’s Degree program

  • Certified ACNP, CANP, or PA-C

  • Certified in ACLS
