Job ID361232 LocationTwin Cities Job FamilyEducation-General Full/Part TimePart-Time Regular/TemporaryRegular Job Code8315A2 Employee ClassCivil Service About the Job This part time position will work directly with assigned student-athletes on various subject-based course concepts based on departmental needs and the applicant's preferences. These subjects include but are not limited to mathematics, economics, biology, earth sciences, chemistry, and other introductory level courses. Primarily, this position will assist student-athletes in learning and mastering information presented in their coursework. Appointments will be scheduled in small groups (1-3 students) on a weekly recurring basis. Ideally, the position will work between 15-25 hours per week. Work schedules for this position are flexible and based on the tutors availability to work. Currently, all sessions are conducted in person at the Lindahl Academic Center which is located in the Land O' Lakes Center for Excellence on the campus of the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities. When necessary, tutoring sessions may be held virtually using Zoom. This is a part time, hourly Civil Service position working between 15-25 hours per week with no benefits, but may be eligible for the Minnesota State Retirement System (MSRS). Job Duties: * Meet with assigned student-athletes weekly to assist in their learning of subject-based course content. * Assist student-athletes in developing daily, weekly, and monthly goals and timelines in regards to their progress in subject-based courses. * Submit daily tutor reports for each tutoring session which occurs. * Uphold all standards of academic integrity, including those outlined in the Lindahl Academic Center Tutor Code of Conduct. * Attend all tutor training sessions as assigned by the tutor coordinators * Comply with all University of Minnesota, Big Ten Conference and NCAA rules and regulations. * Additional duties as assigned. Hourly rate: $19.84 to $26 per hour, depending on qualifications. Qualifications Required Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree plus 2 years of experience or a combination of education and experience to total 6 years * Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds * Must successfully pass a mandatory criminal background check * Flexible hours, with some night and weekend work required About the Department The Lindahl Academic Center is a student-athlete focused environment dedicated to guiding student-athletes to graduation, building positive relationships, and enhancing their overall experience.
