Job Brief:

  • To maintain the buildings and grounds in a condition of operating excellence so that full educational use of them may be made at all times. Cross-trained in all areas of general and skilled maintenance, relieving the District of dependence on outside contractors.

Location:2031 Casement Rd.

Salary:

  • \$17.50 - \$22.50.

Days Per Year:

  • Twelve-month employment.
  • Salary and work year is established by the Board and Director of Maintenance and Facilities.

FLSA Status:

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two years experience in agriculture or horticulture field or training and experience that would provide a good understanding of turf management.
  • Basic knowledge of computers.
  • Two years experience in the following fields: electrical, plumbing, carpentry and painting.
  • Basic knowledge of and skills including but not limited to leveling, seeding and re-seeding.
  • Must be able to lift up to 100 pounds chest high and repetitive lift up to 60 pounds.
  • Working knowledge of District buildings and operations.
  • Working knowledge of cleaning equipment and operations.
  • Such an alternative to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
  • The option to obtain a CDL drivers license (for transporting of passengers) within 90 days.
  • Must have current Commercial Pesticide Applicator Certification 3B, or the ability to obtain within 90 days of employment.
  • All USD 383 employees must pass a background check.

Reports To:

  • Director of Maintenance and Facilities
  • Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board\'s policy on the evaluation of classified personnel.

Job Duties:

  • Responds to alarm system calls in all District buildings, determining necessary action, during and after regular school hours.
  • Maintenance and upkeep of all district landscaping equipment, synthetic turf equipment, and snow removal equipment.
  • Maintenance and grooming of synthetic turf at Bishop Field and elementary school playgrounds.
  • Perform all aspects of turf management andgrounds keeping at all district locations.Monitoring field conditions for hardness, disease, and moisture levels, to ensure that turf is available for use.
  • Performs maintenance tasks independently in the following maintenance areas, including, but not limited to, key and lock systems, welding, carpentry, HVAC, roofing, cleaning, and electrical.
  • Performs HVAC filter replacement in all District buildings.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and maintain harmonious relationships with district staff and coworkers.
  • General maintenance duties in the schools as assigned by supervisor.
  • Other duties as designated by supervisor, (school bus driving, operation of snowplow, etc.)
