JOB REQUIREMENTS: Job Summary: The School of Computer, Data and Information Sciences (CDIS) at the University of Wisconsin-Madison seeks a dynamic professional to join our growing team as the CDIS Commons Director. The CDIS Commons will be a user- and learner-oriented set of services, spaces and people that serves several thousand students and several hundred faculty and staff from across four growing academic departments in the new CDIS Building. The Commons Director will provide direction, vision, oversight and assessment of the spaces, programs, and services that comprise the CDIS Commons. The Commons Director will oversee a range of services including Commons space management and assessment, reference and information services, outreach, student service points, support for student clubs, library instruction and a circulating collection. Collaboration with the CDIS Learning Center, campus libraries, and student services will be a critical component of this position. The Commons Director will manage a team of professional, graduate and undergraduate student hourly staff. The Commons will also provide training opportunities for information professionals, positioning student staff members in impactful roles within Commons operations. As the inaugural director of the CDIS Commons, the successful candidate will lead the Commons in providing innovative directions in teaching, learning, and research support. The candidate for the position will have a developed understanding of academic libraries and student ecosystems. Collaboration will be a critical component of this position. The Commons Director will closely collaborate with the Learning Center Director, heads of CDIS departments and units, and CDIS faculty and staff to oversee Commons operations across multiple floors and service areas.
