JOB DESCRIPTION:\ GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES\ 1. To maintain confidentiality regarding residents, co-workers, and company business. To refrain from\ harassment, bullying, gossiping or unprofessional interactions with co-workers, residents, or the general\ public.\ 2. Tactful, pleasant, and friendly approach in dealing with residents, general public, family members/friends of\ residents and staff.\ 3. To appropriately accurately document the care and assistance provided to residents in Point Click Care\ and/or in other appropriate documentation systems.\ 4. Use of sound judgment and considerable initiative in adapting to given situations.\ JOB DESCRIPTION\ AIDE / RESIDENTIAL CARE AIDE (RCA)\ EMPLOYEE NAME: FACILITY:\ Page 3 of 6 Resident Care Aide: revision 01/09/13, 03/11/13, 7/24/14, 9/26/19\ 5. Willing to adapt work schedule to meet the needs of the position and willingness to work flexible hours when\ and where required by management. This includes freeze over into other shifts if necessary, to meet\ staffing requirements.\ 6. Able to accept ideas and constructive criticism as well as supervision from management staff.\ 7. Report to work punctually and as scheduled.\ 8. Good oral and written communication skills and be able to work independently.\ 9. Must consistently follow standard precautions, and practice good infection control practices. This includes use\ of good personal infection control, assisting residents with infection control, and environmental infection\ control practices. Must always wear gloves when contact with possible infectious materials such as bodily\ fluids or blood is possible or likely.\ 10. Responsible for the monthly summaries of all the residents assigned to them (if any).\ 11. Attend in services and staff meetings as required.\ 12. To follow company policies and company handbook and to seek clarification from Administrator or supervisor\ if the policies or procedures are unclear.\ 13. Assist the resident in achieving and maintaining the highest possible degree of functioning, self-care and\ independence.\ 14. Will assist in the development of each residents assessment and care plan as needed.\ 15. Will be aware of each residents needs and conditions, and will document/ report appropriately, utilizing flow\ sheets, communication notes, and both behavioral and accidental incident reports.\ 16. Will complete shift change reports to staff relieving them of duties at each shift change.\ 17. Will routinely check each resident throughout shift. Each resident should be checked on at least once per hour\ to determine whether the resident is in need of assistance or care.\ 18. To contact and coordinate with emergency personnel in the event of an emergency or an unexpected hospital\ admission or transport.\ 19. Assist/ supervise each resident in maintaining their daily grooming and their activities of daily living, including\ but not limited to: brushing teeth, shaving, nail care and maintaining a bath schedule.\ 20. To encourage and or assist residents in maintaining their area, including making their bed, dusting, etc.\ 21. To make resident aware of all appointments and activity functions (and encourage participation) and to assist\ them in preparing for them if necessary.\ 22. Assist in or be responsible for collecting, washing drying, folding, distributing and putting away resident laundry\ (depending upon the needs of the facility).\ 23. Participate in and ensure cleanliness of the facility. This includes participating in maintaining cleanliness &\ safety of the facility such as emptying trash, cleaning surfaces, general cleaning or straightening of\ environment, removing obstacles or other hazards etc. as needed or required.\ 24. Assist with meal serving and clean-up, including assisting residents uring meals as needed.\ 25. Ensure residents rights are maintained, protect residents from physical and mental abuse as well as ensuring\ that they are treated with consideration, respect and full recognition of dignity and individuality. All\ employees are mandatory reporters and are required to follow all mandatory reporter requirements per\ DHHS regulations and company policy.\ 26. Inventory residents belongings upon admission and when required or requested.\ 27. Must be able and willing to transport residents as deemed necessary by management and if approved by\ company insurance & holding a valid drivers license\ 28. Job Descriptions are a dynamic process.
