Role Description

The position will be responsible for managing the relationships and leading the origination of corporate & investment banking opportunities in Peru. Provide solutions to clients needs and lead and coordinate with the team in charge of the execution of transactions. Coordinate corporate banking functions to develop and implement customer-centric relationship plans. Develop and maintain customer database, including call reports and results on all new and existing business relationships. Manage existing relationships to meet profit and revenue targets, achieve goals and increase cross-sell opportunities.

Role Objectives

  • Responsible for marketing and originating corporate finance and investment banking transactions in Peru. Understand client’s business environment, strategies and industry to better determine their requirements, potential new business opportunities and provide needs-based solutions.

  • Key participant in the due diligence process to ascertain the viability of transactions.

  • Maintain ongoing contact with clients to be kept current on significant changes in financial condition or operations.

  • Maintain and apply a thorough understanding of the bank’s products, credit policy, client eligibility and all necessary business practices to sell products and services and ensure smooth transaction approval and processing.

  • Coordinate necessary materials for the credit approval process.

  • Interface with lenders, sponsors, lawyers and all relevant parties during the execution process to facilitate the final closing of deals.

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of a long-term business plan and marketing strategy

  • Collaborate with other relevant groups within SMBC.

  • Mentor and coach junior bankers to ensure that they are continuing to learn new skills and are exposed to different aspects of the deal process.

Qualifications and Skills

  • 10+ years of relevant experience.

  • Experience with structuring and executing corporate finance deals.

  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of products, practices, rates and industry trends in the market.

  • Expert knowledge of all lending products offered by banks and advanced knowledge of securities and capital markets.

  • Exceptional communication skills when conveying analytical and marketing data.

  • Business fluency in English and Spanish required.
