How you make a difference

The Activity Specialistis responsible forcreating and implementing engaging and therapeutic activities to support patients with mental and emotional disabilities during their treatment. Theyprovidea safe and supportive environment where patients can freely communicate their ideas, thoughts, and feelings through various activities. Additionally, the Activity Specialist collaborates with hospital and community members on arts projects and supports the hospital withspecial eventsand holidays.

Key Responsibilities

• Develops customized curriculum based on individual patient's functional skill assessments.

• Creates and implements activities in all stages of Role Recovery,utilizingcreativity.

• Conducts activities for patients in both group and individual settings.

• Plans and selectsappropriate activitiesforspecial eventsand occasions.

• Collaborates with all hospital departments and programs to meet patients' needs, documenting activities in the electronic medical record and working with other specialists in conducting group sessions.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.

• Bachelor Degree in Human Services or related field strongly preferred, certification a plus.

Experience

• Experience conducting art and/or other activities in a therapeutic or educational environment. Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department. Willingness and ability to work weekends and evenings.
