Rocket Software Payroll Analyst in Juneau, Alaska

Job Description Summary:

The Payroll Analyst position is responsible for managing and supporting our global

payroll process. This position will support the global payroll function based out of

US. The ideal candidate will have excellent payroll management skills and

implementing payroll process improvements and strong project management skills

to coordinate the planning, implementation, and administration of programs in

America’s region that includes USA , Canada and Brazil.

This role will require establishing an excellent working relationship with OSV, ADP and activpayroll (our payroll vendors) to develop, adjust, and enhance payroll systems and procedures

due to changes in tax laws, regulations, and our pay policies/compensation

initiatives. This position will foster relationships with internal stakeholders such as

Tax, Legal, Finance, IT and HR as well as with our external vendors.

This role is ideally suited for someone with the ability to manage vendors and

employees as they process payroll globally, influence and effectively communicate

cross-functionally in a fast-paced, growing, and ever-changing environment.

This role will require to also focus on implementing Global payroll process

enhancement, leveraging workday and improving employee experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Payroll & Benefits: Manage and support Americas payroll processing, compliance and work closely with the payroll vendor and accountants on various accounting activities, including exempt and non-exempt payrolls, monthly/quarterly accounting close activities, account maintenance and reconciliations, financial reporting and variance analysis.

  • Payroll Processing & Controls: Ensure proper reviews are in place for payroll output from payroll vendor. This includes ensuring all payroll inputs are accurately captured. Includes but not limited to performing payroll analysis such as total gross payroll to net payment, the average paid per headcount by country, and comparison of analysis to the prior period, etc.

  • Employee experience: Respond to employee inquiries and serve as a liaison between employee and third-party providers; educate and counsel employees on how to use self-service tools and address issues that fall outside the scope of self-service, including leaves of absence, benefits changes, hourly time tracking and overtime

  • Being diligent and complaint to the Payroll process manual/procedures.

  • Third parties: Manage third-party payroll providers and the preparation, analysis, and maintenance of all payroll-related reports, including governmental and regulatory filings.

  • General ledger: Ensure all payroll activities are posted to the general ledger and support and query from Finance and accounting on mismatches.

  • Cross-functional partnerships: Work with internal partners in Human Resources/ Recruiting/ Strategic Finance/ Legal to facilitate and improve the payroll processes, including benefits and withholdings (e.g., leave of absence, employee benefits, retirement and leave balances, flexible spending accounts, etc.).

  • Payroll Reconciliation and Validation: Review all payroll reporting and ensure accurate and timely filing with appropriate government authorities.

  • Year-End: Manage the annual preparation and delivery of yearly forms as required within the jurisdictions.

  • Leverage Workday with design efficient and seamless payroll process.

  • Adhoc Payroll support as an when needed.

Required Qualifications:

  • Systems: Experience with payroll system implementation is highly preferred. Advanced level experience with Workday (or equivalent ERP), ADP, activpayroll and/or OneSource Virtual payroll vendors, and Excel (think pivot tables and lookups) a definite plus.

  • Process Oriented: Strong understanding of payroll processes and best practices. Excellent management and organizational skills.

  • Technical skills: Thorough knowledge of payroll-related state, legal, tax, and compliance requirements

  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills needed to interface and establish rapport with all levels of the organization including executive team members.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A proactive, high-energy attitude geared towards achieving continuous improvement.

  • Flexibility: Ability to operate in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving, and data-driven organization.

  • Entrepreneurial; someone who wants to build out the global payroll process

Education:

  • BS degree or equivalent. Chartered Accountant or Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation a definite plus.

The base salary range for this role is $75,536.00 - $94,420.00 /year. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location.
