INQUIRIES: Susan ONeal 808-961-2942 (Hawaii). Regular, Full-Time, RCUH Non-Civil Service position with the Academia Sinica Institute of Astronomy and Astrophysics (ASIAA), located in Hilo, Hawai'i. Continuation of employment is dependent upon program/operational needs, satisfactory work performance, availability of funds, and compliance with applicable Federal/State laws. MONTHLY SALARY RANGE: [$]{#_Hlk150927353}4,600 - $6,350/Mon. DUTIES: The current ASIAA Hawaii Operations projects are the Submillimeter Array (SMA), the Y.T. Lee Array for Microwave Background Anisotropy (YTLA) site on Mauna Loa, and a future Pahala Fast Radio Burst (FRB) site located in Kau, Hawaii. Develops and maintains a software system for monitor and control of the Fast Radio Burst (FRB) telescope. Writes tests for the FRB telescopes hardware, including digital acquisition and processing boards and radio antennas. Collaborates with other team members, local and international, to interface between software and hardware. Some travel to the FRB site may be required. PRIMARY QUALIFICATIONS:


EDUCATION Bachelors Degree from an accredited four (4) year college or university in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Astronomy/Astrophysics, Physics or related field. EXPERIENCE Up to one (0-1) year of postgraduate experience developing software systems in a research and development environment. Experience with Python and Linux command line, and networking practices. KNOWLEDGE Basic knowledge of how software and hardware interacts. Basic knowledge of how computers are interfaced to other pieces of hardware. Basic knowledge of python and other modern programming languages, Grafana, computer networking, digital acquisition and processing systems. Understanding of modern programming techniques, such as structured programming and source code management techniques. Understanding of how computers are interfaced to other pieces of hardware. ABILITIES and SKILLS Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects simultaneously, collaborate with local and international research teams, and evaluate engineering test data. Must possess a valid drivers license (and if use of personal vehicle on the job is required, must also have valid personal drivers insurance equivalent to Hawaiis No-Fault Drivers Insurance) and maintain throughout the duration of employment. SECONDARY QUALIFICATIONS:


Knowledge or experience with some of the following: Linux real-time system additions; the Unix and/or Linux operating systems; shell scripting; astronomical instrument control and data reduction; object oriented programming; matplotlib library; Grafana; radio frequency electronic design.
