Technicians prepare fiberglass and metal surfaces for painting. Paints parts, equipment, interior and exterior of vessels utilizing brushes, spray guns and rollers.

Duties/Responsibilities:

1. Prepares surfaces to include stripping, scuffing, sanding, masking and priming surfaces.
2. Applies coats of paint to interior and exterior surfaces and molds.
3. Utilizes hand and power tools including but not limited to; scraper, grinder, palm sanders, buffers, basic tools, sandpaper, etc.
4. Details, repairs, sands and fairs composite parts.
5. Sprays gel coat, amour coat, ceram coat, primers and topcoats.
6. Performs sandblasting and bead blasting of materials.
7. Performs details to craft including paint touch ups and buffs and polishes surfaces.
8. Cleans and washes parts and vessels.
9. Other duties as assigned.

Technical Requirements

• 2-3 years' experience, including experience with gel coat and fiberglass required
• Experience prepping surfaces such as aluminum and stainless
• Knowledge of marine or industrial coatings and their proper application is also desired
• Experience in airless and conventional spray painting: prepping surfaces such as aluminum and stainless
• Experience in mixing and applying Marine graded epoxy primers, and topcoats.
• Experience in handling and maintaining Airless, conventional and gravity feed equipment
• Able to read drawing and paint specs and work instructions

• Ability to ascend and descend a ladder and able to climb in and out a boat easily
