The Sr. Test Technician independently performs a wide variety of tests, documents test results, and designs complex test fixtures. The Sr. Test Technician will also drive improvements in test capability by directing the work of less experienced Test Technicians, researching different test procedures, and researching new test equipment.

What you will be doing:

Perform testing to assure that products meet their specifications and will perform successfully in the field.

  • Efficiently executes mechanical tests to assess performance of 3D printers. Accurately predicts completion dates. Prioritizes testing to meet the needs of the team and based on risk.

  • Performs a wide variety of non-routine and complex tests with minimal direction or supervision.

  • Proactively and quickly resolves issues that occur during testing. Troubleshoots and repairs 3D printer issues.

  • Designs, builds, and sets up complex test fixtures.

  • Programs and sets up data acquisition equipment.

  • Uses 3D CAD to create part files and fixtures.

  • Directs the work of less experienced technicians and assures that testing is completed efficiently.

  • Multitasks and keeps multiple projects going simultaneously.

  • Assures on-time completion of testing.

  • Acts as a subject matter expert in multiple areas of mechanical testing.

  • Has a working knowledge of the mechanical, electrical, software, controls, and materials systems in our 3D printers. Uses that knowledge to assure proper testing of our hardware systems..

Drive improvement in testing

  • Provides training to other Mechanical Test Technicians to improve their skills.

  • Research test methods and equipment. Recommends, purchases, and creates new test equipment.

  • Sets up and performs Gage R&R's to assess test repeatability.

  • Stays up to date on new testing equipment and processes.

  • Recommends test methods and parameters to maximize data accuracy, minimize test time, and meet customer needs.

Provides high quality, clear documentation and communicates effectively.

  • Proactively communicates with stakeholders, including status, issues, and schedule.

  • Reports and documents any machine or test issues.

  • Documents, graphs, and performs calculations in Excel.

  • Performs statistical analysis of results using tools such as Minitab.

  • Analyzes and summarizes test data.

  • Writes clear, concise test reports that document test results. Organizes test reports and data for easy retrieval.

  • Consistently follows procedures for documentation and document storage and assures that all testing and documentation meet ISO requirements.

  • Creates test plans for small projects

Collaborate and works cross functionally with team members

  • Proactively communicates schedule and status.

  • Anticipates and meets needs of the project team.

  • Actively engages with the project team on important topics such as test issues and how to accomplish the team's goals.

  • Maintains regular communication with Mechanical Engineers, Electrical Engineers, and Software Engineers to create and sustain a good working relationship and enhance the quality of work performed.

  • Collaborates with Software Test Technicians and Software Test Engineers to improve hardware testing and resolve test issues.

  • Makes sound recommendations to improve the reliability and performance of our products.

Must have for this role:

  • 4-6 years of mechanical and/or electrical troubleshooting experience.

  • Experience programming data acquisition and analysis software.

  • 4+ years experience with test equipment and instruments used for hardware testing.

Nice to have:

  • Previous experience using 3D printers.

  • Experience using CAD software such as SolidWorks.

  • Experience using software programming tools.
