The role of the Americas Real Estate Leader at EY is multifaceted, encompassing a range of responsibilities crucial to the effective management of the organization’s real estate portfolio and support of its business activities.

Your key responsibilities

The role of the Americas Real Estate Leader at EY involves a comprehensive array of responsibilities aimed at optimizing the organization's real estate portfolio and supporting its business objectives. Here's a breakdown of the key duties outlined:

Develop Real Estate Strategy : Collaborate with Americas business leadership and Real Estate Services leadership to craft a robust real estate strategy. Provide thought leadership, incorporate leading practices, and leverage technology to optimize the real estate portfolio. Develop global guidelines for improving metrics and explore alternative workplace strategies.

Proactive Portfolio Management: Take a proactive approach to managing the organization's Americas real estate portfolio. Establish processes for acquiring and disposing of office space, including lease renewal, reconfiguration, renegotiation, and relocation. Develop and maintain best-in-class processes for real estate implementation, continually seeking opportunities for improvement.

Manage Business Relationships : Ensure that business relationships adhere to EY procurement and independence policies. Lead key initiatives in the area to enhance real estate portfolio performance, improve workplace experience, and manage occupancy costs.

Benchmark Portfolio Performance: Evaluate portfolio performance against industry benchmarks. Develop strategies to capitalize on unique market conditions. Monitor the functionality and efficiency of the organization's model and benchmarks, ensuring comparability with competitors and industry leaders.

Location Analysis and Negotiation: Analyze alternative locations financially and subjectively. Negotiate business and legal terms, and develop approval processes. Manage the design, construction, and relocation processes, including contract management.

Cost Management: Manage Area occupancy costs by negotiating competitive lease agreements with favorable rental rates. Oversee project costs and capital expenditure, taking full responsibility for budgets.

Project Management : Manage and lead the Americas real estate team responsible for project delivery, monitor capital planning, timelines and lease requirements. Ensure that staff and external vendors meet deadlines. Monitor lease expiration dates and ensure timely project completion.

Leadership and Team Management: Lead the Americas real estate services team and work with internal functions and external vendors. Provide guidance and support to manage all real estate projects and processes effectively. Encourage innovation and support learning processes within the organization. Coach team members and provide constructive feedback.

Vendor Management: Manage ongoing relationships with brokers, attorneys, architects, project managers, contractors, and suppliers. Ensure compliance with EY procurement and independence policies.

Legal Coordination: Work with legal counsel and the Americas real estate services team to negotiate and coordinate the legal review of all leases to ensure compliance and mitigate risks.

Ad Hoc Services : Perform ad hoc real estate services as requested by the organization's leadership

Skills and attributes for success

To qualify for the role you must have

  • Approximately 10 or more years of relevant leadership experience in Real Estate

  • Previous experience in Corporate Real Estate, Team leadership, Management and Legal experience required

  • Advanced degree in real estate, business administration, finance or economics

  • Previous experience in leading or managing a team with 15 to 20 direct reports

Ideally, you’ll also have the following certifications:

  • CoreNet Global's Master of Corporate Real Estate (MCR)

  • Certified Property Manager (CPM)

  • Member Royal institute of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS) #LI-Remote

What we offer

The compensation ranges below are provided in order to comply with United States pay transparency laws. Other geographies will follow their local salary guidelines, which may not be a direct conversion of published US salary range/s We offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits package where you’ll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to the business. The salary range for this job in most geographic locations in the US is $189,100 to $364,000. The salary range for New York City Metro Area, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento) is $226,900 to $413,600. Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography. In addition, our Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options. Under our flexible vacation policy, you’ll decide how much vacation time you need based on your own personal circumstances. You’ll also be granted time off for designated EY Paid Holidays, Winter/Summer breaks, Personal/Family Care, and other leaves of absence when needed to support your physical, financial, and emotional well-being.
