Location: Redmond, Washington. Applicant \"MUST HAVE\" 1 months of experience.

Work duties include preparing soil and growth media, cultivating and otherwise participating in horticultural activities on acreage, in a nursery or in environmentally controlled structures such as a greenhouse or shed . 1-month verifiable experience in nursery duties is required. Employees must have transportation to the job site. This is a job description for field grown production, harvest, culture and care of nursery grown products. Youll typically be exposed to Dust, Dirt, Heat, Cold, Fumes, Noise, Vibration and water. Physically expect to be Lifting, Pulling, Reaching, Manipulating/Grasping, Carrying, Pushing, Shoveling, Bending, Twisting, Climbing and Squatting. All tasks in this job description constitute one job; the employer may assign workers to different tasks on any day or to multiple tasks during the same day. Employees must perform the assigned work, and may not perform duties not included herein or work in areas not assigned without the specific authorization of the manager or supervisor. There are general conditions of employment, general job specifications and individual requirements that are specific to each job duty: 1.Worker will perform any combination of the following duties concerned with preparing soil and growth media, cultivating and otherwise participating in horticultural activities under close supervision on acreage, in nursery or in environmentally controlled structure such as greenhouse and shed: 2.Hauls and spreads topsoil, fertilizer, peat moss, and other materials to condition land; digs, rakes and screens soil, and fills cold frames and hot beds to prepare them for planting; fills growing tanks with water; plants, sprays, weeds and waters plants, shrubs and trees. 3.Sows grass seed and plants plugs of sod and cuts, rolls, and stacks sod. 4.Traps and poisons pests such as moles, gophers, mice, etc. Plants shrubs and plants in containers. 5.Ties, bunches, wraps and packs flowers, plants, shrubs and trees to fill orders. 6.Moves containerized shrubs and trees using wheelbarrow; digs up shrubs and trees and wraps their roots with burlap. May dip rose cuttings into vat disinfect cuttings prior to storage. May fold and staple corrugated forms to make boxes used for packing horticultural products. May be designated according to employing establishment as grass-farm laborer (agriculture); greenhouse laborer (agriculture); nursery laborer (agriculture); rose-farm laborer (agriculture), etc. Job Specifications Include: 1.Caring for trees in the nursery; 2.Work in nursery environment performing various job duties such as planting, potting, watering (by hose or carrying buckets), and filling up flats; 3.Care for plants during the growing process (hoeing/tilling/watering); 4.Load/unload sod/growing materials onto/from the truck; 5.Transport trees and shrubs weighing up to 70 pounds; 6.Worker will assist in planting and/or harvesting ornamental trees intended for wholesale market; and, 7.Weeding, cleaning, and pruning trees. Workers may be required to perform other work, such as weeding, hoeing, cleaning and repairing farm buildings, installation, setting up and moving irrigation pipes and equipment, gardening, and weeding. Preparing barns, draining fields, preparing land for planting, dropping sticks in the field, maintenance of tools and equipment and other work that is directly related. 4e) Must be able to lift and/or load 70lbs. 4g) Work may take place when temperatures are below freezing and above 100 degrees Fahrenheit. 4h) May require extensive pulling and/or pushing of tools, wheelbarrows, fruit containers, etc. 4i) May require worker to sit and/o walk for extensive periods of time while sorting, picking, examining, weeding, transporting, pruning, etc. 4j) Workers will be required to stoop and/or bend over while performing farm labor such as weeding, irrigating, pruning, picking, removing debris, etc. 4k) There will be repetitive movements while performing most of the farm labor duties, for ex Worker can also: Plant small trees in rows by hand. This requires the person to be bending all day. Moving irrigation pipes around and doing other irrigation jobs. Budding and tying buds in the field. Grafting trees in the field. Place metal stakes into the ground and tie tree to stake with tape by hand and with tape gun. Safety glasses and back brace are required. Place grow tubes on trees. Pick up stakes from the ground and put them in piles. A small tractor picks up the piles left on the rows. Remove buds and branches from trees in the field using hands, knives and pruners. Pruning trees using hand held pruners. This job requires walking all day and bending if the pruning needs to be done on the lower part of the tree. Pulling stakes by removing tape and using a post puller to pull the stake from the ground. This job requires physical strength and bending and walking all day. Safety glasses and back brace are required to do this job. Walk behind a tree digger and pickup trees from the ground to shake mud off.
