Location: Redmond, Washington. Applicant \"MUST HAVE\" 3 months of experience.

This job requires nursery work by the worker. This is an application for Ornamental pot plants. Work duties include preparing soil and growth media, cultivating and otherwise participating in horticultural activities on acreage, in a nursery or in environmentally controlled structures such as a greenhouse or shed. Crops: Ornamental pot plants. These crops listed may or may not be planted and the employer is not limited to only these crops listed. There are general conditions of employment, general job specifications and individual requirements that are specific to each job duty. The Worker will perform any combination of the following duties: - Concerned with preparing soil and growth media. - Cultivating other otherwise participating in horticultural activities under close supervision on acreage, in nursery or in environmentally controlled structure such as a greenhouse and shed. - Hauls and spreads topsoil, fertilizer, peat moss and other materials to condition land. Worker must possess 3 months of nursery experience. Due to the nature of these crops, weather, and the requirement to send the crop to market when fresh, it is the prevailing practice to work substantially more, less, or different hours than those listed, sometimes for extended periods of time. When the number of hours for a week exceeds the number listed , the worker may be offered, but not required, to work more hours. The Worker will perform any combination of the following duties: - Digs, rakes, and screens soil, and fills cold frames and hot beds to prepare them for planting. - Fills growing tanks with water, plants, sprays, weeds, and waters plants, shrubs and trees. - Sows grass seed and plants plugs of sod and cuts, roll and stacks sod. - Traps and poisons pests such as moles, gophers, mice, etc. - Plants shrubs in containers; ties, bunches, wraps and packs flowers, plants, shrubs and trees to fill orders. - Moves containerized shrubs and trees using wheelbarrow; digs up shrubs and trees and wraps their roots in burlap. - May dip rose cuttings into vat disinfect cuttings prior to storage, may fold and staple corrugated forms to make boxes used for packing horticultural products. - May be designated according to the employment establishment as grass-farm labor (agriculture); greenhouse laborer (agriculture); nursery laborer (agriculture); rose-farm laborer (agriculture), etc. Other job specifications include: 1. Caring for trees in the nursery. 2. Work in nursery environment performing various job duties such as planting, potting, watering (by hose or carrying buckets), and filling up flats. 3. Care for plants during growing process (hoeing/tilling/watering). 4. Load/unload sod/growing materials onto/from truck. 5. Transport trees and shrubs weighing up to 70 pounds. 6. Worker will assist in planting and/or harvesting ornamental trees intended for wholesale market 7. Weeding, cleaning, and pruning trees. 8. Draining fields, preparing land for planting, dropping sticks in the field, general maintenance of tools and agricultural equipment and other work that is directly related. Workers can also: 1. Drive tractors. 2. Spray fertilizer or pesticide solutions to control insects, fungus and weed growth, and diseases, using hand sprayers. Workers will either have a valid a pesticide license or be supervised by someone with a valid pesticide license. The employer attests that their supervisor who has a valid Private Applicator license, which is the standard pursuant to the Washington State Department of Agriculture (WSDA), will properly train these workers. Their supervisor will be available to ensure that worker understand all. 3. Pack crops into containers. 4. Repairing farm structures. Workers may drive company vehicles to transport crops, supplies, tools, or farm workers if the workers have a valid drivers license from either a state in the U.S. or their native country. The drivers license is not a pre-hire job requirement. They may drive workers from living quarters to work sites and vice versa. Workers may be eligible for bonuses based on performance or other company policy. B.4e) Must be able to lift and/or load 70lbs. B.4g) Work may take place when temperatures are below freezing and above 100 degrees Fahrenheit. B.4h) May require extensive pulling and/or pushing of tools, wheelbarrows, fruit containers, etc. B.4i) May require worker to sit and/or walk for extensive periods of time while sorting, picking, examining, weeding, transporting, pruning, etc. B.4j) Workers will be required to stoop and/or bend over while performing farm labor such as weeding, irrigating, pruning, picking, removing debris, etc. B.4k) There will be repetitive movements while performing most of the farm labor duties, for example picking, sorting, pruning, shoveling, weeding, etc GENERAL CONDITIONS: Field work begins at the assigned time shortly after daylight. Work may be performed during light rain and in high humidity and in freezing or high heat temperatures. The worker may be required to work in the orchard when trees are wet with dew/rain and should have suitable clothing for variable weather conditions. Workers may be required to lift or load object
