Position Purpose
The Outagamie County Land Conservation Department is seeking an Intern to assist with soil and water conservation projects. This position is a Seasonal Summer 2024 position. This position will report directly to the County Conservationist.
The Hours for the Summer are:
Monday through Friday 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM
Expected Start Date for this role is May 20, 2024 but can be flexible.
This role is located at Land Conservation on Brewster Street in Appleton.
Key Responsibilities
Provide assistance to agronomy staff with implementing soil health grants.
Assist with the installation, maintenance, and data collection of Soil Health demonstration plots.
Assist with mapping of Nutrient Management Plans.
Assist with general maintenance and operation of Departmental farm machinery.
Other support duties as assigned.
Education/Certifications/Experience Requirements
Candidate should be enrolled in a degree program related to agriculture and/or natural resources. Agronomy or soils coursework preferred.
Must possess a valid State of Wisconsin driver's license
Required or Preferred Skills
Knowledge and proficiency of Microsoft Office Suite.
Possess excellent writing and verbal communication skills.
Good analytical and problem solving skills.
Experience maintaining/operating farm machinery.
Experience operating pickup trucks and trailers.
UTV/ATV certification.
Ability to work independently and maintain regular attendance.
