The Massry School of Business at the University at Albany invites applications and nominations for the position of Dean. UAlbany has received the Higher Education Excellence in Diversity (HEED) award from INSIGHT Into Diversity magazine for six consecutive years. In addition, the University was highlighted as a national leader in advancing racial equity in 2020 by Education Trust and was recently awarded the Seal of Excelencia distinction for Latina and Latino student success- the first R1 university in the Northeast to receive this recognition. The Dean of the Massry School of Business will provide foundational and visionary leadership to the School in all aspects of operation, including academic affairs, administration and planning, student recruitment and career placement, enrollment management and financial aid, financial management, and institutional advancement.

UAlbany is one of four research centers in the 64-campus State University of New York (SUNY) system. With more than 20,000 members within its campus community, UAlbany is home to nine colleges and schools and over 50 research centers and institutes across three campuses. It has been one of the nation's elite Carnegie Classified "R1" doctoral degree-granting universities since 2005. In addition to its very high research activity, it is distinguished for its many academic strengths and close ties to government and industry, and for having one of the most diverse student populations in the SUNY system, with 54 percent of the student body identifying as underrepresented minorities.

The Massry School of Business offers innovative and distinctive niche programs and experiential learning opportunities in collaboration with campus and corporate partners. The School is home to 48 faculty (34 of whom are tenured or tenure-track), 11 staff (9.8 FTE), 1099 undergraduates, and 412 graduate students. There are currently four endowed professorships in the School, with two additional ones being held for the new dean. Six departments comprise the School: Accounting; Finance; Management; Marketing; Information Systems and Business Analytics; and Information Security and Digital Forensics. Undergraduate programs include a BS in Accounting, BS in Business Administration, BS in Digital Forensics, and BS in Interdisciplinary Studies - Financial Market Regulation. Graduate programs include an MBA (1-year accelerated, 2-year, and part-time---including online), MS in Accounting, MS in Business Analytics, MS in Digital Forensics and Cybersecurity, MS in Forensic Accounting, MS in Professional Accountancy, and MS in Taxation. Certificates are currently offered in Information Security and Business Analytics, and microcredentials are currently offered in Cybersecurity Risk and Auditing as well as Essential Tableau Skills. Several new microcredentials were approved in December 2023, including Artificial Intelligence in Business, Entrepreneurship, and Wealth Management.

Completed in 2013, the 96,000 square-foot Massry Center for Business is dedicated to supporting business education, innovation, entrepreneurship, and excellence in research. The Center advances the School's efforts to promote business, information security, and technological and social entrepreneurship on campus and in the Capital Region. The building houses 24 cutting-edge classrooms, two executive classrooms, Bloomberg terminals, a simulated trading room, and accounting and digital forensics labs. It received LEED Gold certification from the U.S. Green Business Council in March of 2015 and has been ranked as the fourth most beautiful business school building in the world.

The National Security Agency and the Department of Homeland Security have designated the Massry School of Business as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense Research, a testament to the School's technological strength. In addition, 95% of the School's undergraduates are employed or enrolled in graduate programs within six months of graduation. Half of accounting students graduate to positions in Big 4 firms: Deloitte, EY, KPMG, and PwC. The Wall Street Journal (2023) ranks UAlbany among the top 10 public universities for salaries of graduates in finance and top 20 public universities for salaries of graduates in accounting. The Massry School of Business holds dual AACSB accreditation in business administration and accounting, an elite distinction shared by fewer than 2% of the world's 16,000 business schools.

The Dean will establish a clear identity and set strategic direction for the School, deepen relationships with alumni and secure additional resources, especially through fundraising, and increase enrollments in undergraduate, graduate, and professional programs. In addition, the Dean will build the marketing engine of the School to ensure that existing programs and faculty accomplishments are well publicized and will expand relationships with industry partners, ensuring that the School is graduating students with the skill sets employers require. The Dean will also recruit, retain, and develop talented faculty and staff, grow the School's research enterprise and increase research expenditures and sponsored research, and prepare for an upcoming AACSB accreditation. The Dean will foster a diverse, equitable, and inclusive community and will enhance collaborations with other UAlbany schools and colleges.
